True snapper is one of the breams of the radiculars. This fish is distributed in the western Pacific region, including southern Japan, the Korean Peninsula, the coast of mainland China, Taiwan, Hainan Island, northern Vietnam, the northern coast of the Indian Ocean to the central Pacific Ocean, the Hawaiian Islands and other sea areas. The body colour of this fish is light red, the abdomen is white, and the back is sporadicly distributed with small blue dots. As it grows, it will gradually disappear. The upper edge of the caudal fin is slightly black, and the edge of the lower caudal fin is white. The body length can reach 100 centimetres. It inhabits offshore warm bottom fish, rock reefs, sandy sea areas or algae clustered seabed areas, feeding on benthic crustaceans, molluscs and shellfish. Advanced edible fish, delicious meat, can be made into sashimi, suitable for various cooking methods. It is also an important farmed fish.
