This fish is distributed in the western Pacific region, including Japan, South Korea, China's coast, Southeast Asia and other waters. The fish is prolongated, its back is slightly bulge, the mouth is at the end, and the lower jaw is slightly protruding from the upper jaw. Both the upper and lower chins and plough bones have chorionic tooth bands. The posterior edge of the anterior gill cover is serrated, the body is covered with small comb scales, the back of the body is blue-gray, and the sides and abdomen are silvery white. There are irregular black spots on the upper side of the body, and the dorsal fins, anal fins and caudal fin edges are gray-black, and the body length can reach 102 centimetres. This fish lives at the light seawater intersection and is traced back to the light waters foraging. It has a fierce temperament and carnivorous nature. It feeds on fish and crustaceans. As an important edible fish and cultured fish, it can be steamed, braised and cooked in soup.
